Spruce Teo (Mister Spruce)
Saxophonist
Saxophonist Spruce Teo caught the attention of the media and many in the entertainment scene as a youth music talent after being handpicked by International Superstar Wang Lee Hom during a music competition in 2011.
Opportunities for collaboration performances with artists such as Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah, HongKong Singer/Actress Sheung Tin Ngor and more followed thereafter.
Proficient on the Tenor, Alto Soprano saxophones, Spruce melds smooth stylistics with energetic approaches, creating an expressive tone reminiscent of the sounds of R&B and Neo Jazz genres, resultant of years spent as a classical percussionist, and complemented by training in Traditional Jazz as part of the Esplanade’s Bright Young things(3rd Generation) programme.
In 2013, Spruce had the honour of performing for distinguished figures on several high profile functions, including foreign delegates and Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong.
A fourth of Bilingual pop band EDMSG(2015-current), Spruce also co-founded Singapore’s first Augmented-Reality Smoothjazz outfit, SmoothCrew(2012- current), The Saxtape Project, and recorded numerous tracks for television, radio and various productions. “Spruce is a talented and driven artist, I foresee a long and exciting music career for him in the future” - Taufiq Batisah(2011), Singapore Idol champion.
